  Stopped by Minty Gems about 30 minutes before closing. The shop itself looked solid, but the experience felt unwelcoming and not very engaging. When we bought Pokémon packs for openings, we were told we probably wouldn’t pull anything, which was discouraging. Their chip reader wasn’t working, and after spending over $500 between the three of us, no small courtesy like a pack of top loaders was offered. Overall, it just didn’t feel very customer-focused.

  It’s a very visually impressive space. Extremely well kept and the neon Kanto starters is a nice touch. I love the wall card displays. It’s very popular in Japan, and it briefly took me back to my time card hunting through Tokyo. It’s clear the owners of this shop care about the hobby. The singles pricing was about what I’d expect. Some deals, some at market, and some felt a bit high. I picked up a few singles and plan to return for more. There was also a lot of chase cards, which was very cool to see.   I don’t often leave reviews, but after visiting today for the first time and also seeing some of the reviews from a few folks who clearly don’t understand the dynamics of running a LCS I felt like I had to leave one. First impressions when I walked in - the store was clean, laid out with a plethora of slabs, singles, sealed products, and more. I felt like a kid in a candy store.   I want to leave 1 star but the new space looks amazing and they’ve upped their game with singles. Also the staff is great. Pricing here is horrible on sealed. They continue to blame distributors, which is true to a degree but they do get wholesale pricing on new releases. Distributors charge near market on subsequent restocks. It’s also not uncommon to walk in and see them breaking down new releases so they can sell the packs on their TikTok shop. I was happy to pay msrp or even a little above in order to support my LCS whenever online shops were selling under msrp. I’ve been in maybe only a

  So far the staff have been friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and fair on a couple successful visits. Unfortunately, most of their sealed product is listed for even higher than scalper prices. I've still bought some small things to support LCS but I'm aware I'm buying over value (based on last solds online at least). Yesterday (9/24), I drove an hour to stop in again and they were randomly closed an hour early, which was right as I was arriving.
